Flaming Bros San Fernando Intro

So, I came up with this crazy concept (try saying “crazy concept” three times fast) that actually grew into something quite fascinating:

A fictional first-run syndication reality show called "Flaming Bros San Fernando" (FBSF⛈️, for short) - no colon between "Bros" and "San", and no "of" between "Bros" and "San".

The show (which would have premiered on March 2015) mainly focuses on a predominantly Latino group of queer men who live within/around the City of San Fernando, California. But the show has diversified to varying degrees (and varying success) since its early days. As you can imagine, this initially leads to three things: (1) classicism especially from the original cast, (2) racial tension towards the more likeable people before evolving into a more inviting show that people wouldn't be ashamed to join, and (3) prejudice against queer people who identity as anything other than gay, or only happen to be queer but it's not their personality.

At first, the show would be best remembered for its many villains who ironically form a thunderstorm of drama and bullying in one of the most blazing hot areas in the SFV, refuse to accept accountability and just deflect or gaslight, and hardly allow us viewers into their individual lives. And it becomes clear that many of those cast members just wanna act a fool by being the most evil bitches they can be. By the time we’ve reached Season 5, however, only ONE original villain remains. But drama will always follow the more likable cast members.

The big takeaway is that the villains are replaceable (unlike most typical reality shows where villains are the most rewarded). And while this is refreshing for people who want authenticity even with conflict, it's a living nightmare for viewers who want ratchet mess rather than people who learn from their mistakes. Luckily for those fans, the villains rotate, while the more likable cast members continue to evolve, often without villains, which shows you who are often the most relevant.

I can't wait to share more with you as I discuss each season at a time (one season per entry), after I talk about how I came up with the idea, and its in-universe sizzle reel. Better buckle up because this is an unforgettable ride!
