Flaming Bros Jersey City - The Origin of a Chaotic Reality Fanfic

After watching a handful of reality shows based in the East Coast, including The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Mob Wives, Made in Staten Island, Growing Up Gotti, and Families of the Mafia, one element that stood out to me the most was family drama. And to this day, I'm asking myself, "What is this obsession with family drama in the East Coast?" I have gotten to the point of believing that "family" is the East Coast's entire personality. And if I'm wrong, I refuse to believe that I'm wrong.

Anyway, back in 2018, when I was thinking of what other location had the potential to join the Flaming Bros universe (aka the greater Jordie-Verse), I looked into the state of New Jersey. Admittedly, I was way too scared to even bother with New Jersey because the people who live in the Garden State are just... unhinged, intense, uncontrollably annoying, and too loyal to a toxic fault. I've never even BEEN to the East Coast, so what would I know, right?

Eventually, Jersey City caught my eye the most, and to this day I don't know why lol. So naturally, in 2018, the title ended up being Flaming Bros Jersey City. I dig it, hehe.

Some might ask why "Jersey City" instead of "New Jersey," as many still thinking of New Jersey as a city within the state of New York, and others say state's name "New Jersey" is more marketable than "Jersey City"or any other name of an NJ area. Even the state capital Trenton isn't something you ever hear about, unless you live in New Jersey. But again, I like being different. And calling the show "Flaming Bros New Jersey" is a bit too easy and lazy for my taste.

But as with San Fernando, CA, the cast I chose for Jersey City didn't have to literally live in the city; they could live around it, and that would be fine enough for me.

In fact, the inaugural cast I chose for Season 1 (of currently 10 seasons) was not related to each other or familially tied in any way, and I still thought they worked very well with each other... until they didn't. More on that when I talk about Season 1 later. The cast overall did prove to be harder to rotate after a few seasons, and that can be a problem. In fact one of the biggest cons of East Coast-based reality shows is that after awhile, the cast becomes harder and harder to move on from. Just look at what happened to the Real Housewives franchises in New York and New Jersey. And in the case of FBJC, the addition of relatives in the cast, many seasons later, became the catalyst for the show struggling to move on from that family dram trope that dominated East Coast reality TV for roughly 20 years.

Still, if I could place this show in any network, I would go for...MTV. I'm not sure why, honestly. But MTV needed new shows then, and still do TODAY.
