Here's my reimagined cast timeline for The Real Housewives
of Potomac (or RHOP).
--------------------------------------------
So, Season 1’s main cast remains exactly the same: Gizelle
Bryant, Karen Huger, Katie Rost, Robyn Dixon, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, and
Ashley Darby.
But this is where things get slightly different: most viewers
may not remember Brynee Baylor.
She made plenty of appearances with the cast throughout
Season 1, making me think that she was initially meant to be full-time cast
member. But whatever happened, she ultimately got edited into a semi-friend-of,
in which a cast member is edited around before disappearing completely. Well in
this alternate reality, she officially joins the Season 1 cast as a friend-of
and is officially credited as such.
--------------------------------------------
Now Season 2 is where we finally step into the reimagined
version of RHOP.
Monique Samuels still joins the show full-time, but instead
of replacing Katie Rost, she ends up replacing none other than Robyn Dixon.
Yes, you heard me right. Robyn Dixon was let go from this
reimagined show after Season 1. In real life, her storyline with Juan Dixon
never really changes, and she rarely if ever wants to talk about anything big
or small going on in her life, causing her to serve absolutely no purpose. Besides,
her dynamic with Gizelle always felt very redundant, and Robyn was often the
least interesting and most miserable of the two. So, in a way, I’m doing Robyn
a favor.
Meanwhile, Katie stays because in the real version of the
show, she was really the only cast member who brought humor into cast of women
who takes themselves *too* fucking seriously. As a self-proclaimed weirdo who embraces
being different, I was disappointed that Katie was basically given the boot
from the show after Season 1 in real life. But in this version of RHOP she is
still a full-time cast member as of Season 10.
And with the exit of Brynee Bailor after Season 1, Season 2
has no friend-of.
And the main cast is as follows: Gizelle Bryant, Karen
Huger, Katie Rost, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, Ashley Darby, and Monique Samuels.
--------------------------------------------
The reimagined Season 3 still sees the exit, but it’s not
who you think it is.
Instead of Charrisse Jackson-Jordan getting demoted to
friend-of for multiple seasons starting with Season 3, it’s actually Gizelle
Bryant who is fired after Season 2. As long as she was never truly going to
share her personal life on the show beyond her interactions with her daughters
and fake boyfriends, there was really no point in keeping her around anymore.
She and Robyn were basically the same person, which made them very replaceable
in my opinion.
So instead of being an on/off friend-of for multiple
seasons, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan remains on the main cast as to this day. A
lot of viewers don’t like her, but that’s irrelevant when you consider how
important she actually is to the show’s narrative and initial casting.
Candiace Dillard Bassett still joins the show in Season 3
now as Gizelle’s replacement, and is still as polarizing as ever.
And there are no friend-ofs this season.
The reimagined Season 3 cast now consists of Karen Huger,
Katie Rost, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, Ashley Darby, Monique Samuels, and
Candiace Dillard Bassett.
--------------------------------------------
The reimagined Season 4 has the exact same cast as the
reimagined Season 3: Karen Huger, Katie Rost, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, Ashley
Darby, Monique Samuels, and Candiace Dillard Bassett.
But Season 4 also ends up being Candiace’s final season
because she is just simply annoying as fuck.
Believe me, in real life, I tried to tolerate her in Season
3, but I had enough of her loud mouth in Season 4 and was *more* than ready for
her to leave. She had to go sooner or later.
In other words, Candiace is fired after the Season 4
reunion.
--------------------------------------------
The reimagined Season 5 is no longer a dark cloud season.
With Candiace gone, there’s no need for Monique to get into any physical
altercations. And Monique can just… relax.
Wendy Osefo still joins the show this season as she did in
real life. In this reimagined universe, however, not only does she step into
the show as close friends of the now former cast member Candiace Dillard
Bassett, but she does so as Candiace’s replacement following Candiace’s firing
after Season 4. But unfortunately for Wendy (but fortunately for me), this is
her only season. I could *never* get into this woman, no matter what she did,
and I found her to be very self-righteous, boring, and annoying. I still only
remember her as “the one with the thousand degrees,” because she would brag
about her degrees so often during the real Season 5. That’s how useless she
was, and in real life, I don’t think she’s ever been able to shake that off,
even if she’s not teaching anymore.
Also, this is no longer Monique’s final full-time season.
Instead, she remains full-time to this day as of Season 10.
This is the reimagined cast for Season 5: Karen Huger, Katie
Rost, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, Ashley Darby, Monique Samuels, and Wendy Osefo.
We even get a cameo from future friend-of Erana Tyler.
--------------------------------------------
So… think of RHOP like a panel talk show (i.e., The View,
The Talk, or The Real). If every Potomac housewife had a chair, the newest cast
member would take the chair of a recently departed/demoted cast member.
With that in mind, so far, in this reimagined RHOP, the
chair that has seen the most people coming and going is Gizelle’s chair.
How is this so, you may ask?
Because in this version of the show, Gizelle was fired after
Season 2. She was replaced by Candiace in Season 3. Then Candiace was fired
after Season 4. Candiace was replaced by Wendy in Season 5, only for Wendy to
get the boot after just one season. So if RHOP was a panel show, and Gizelle
had her own chair, it would be the cursed chair, for sure.
As a result, Mia Thornton, who still joins the Season 6 cast
of RHOP like she did in real life, would be working up against a lot of
hesitation from the audience. Little does anyone realize how long she would
maintain her spot on the cursed chair.
Until then, here’s the reimagined cast for Season 6: Karen
Huger, Katie Rost, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, Ashley Darby, Monique Samuels, and
Mia Thornton.
And joining the cast as a friend-of is Askale Davis, who
also joins the Season 6 like she did in real life. And of course, she’s still a
one-and-done. Not much to say about her except that she is a close friend of former
cast member Robyn Dixon.
--------------------------------------------
Following the success of Mia Thornton in the reimagined
Season 6, cast remains exactly the same for the reimagined Season 7: Karen
Huger, Katie Rost, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, Ashley Darby, Monique Samuels, and
Mia Thornton.
And joining the cast as a friend-of is Mia’s best frenemy
Jacqueline Blake, who ends up lasting longer on this reimagined show than she did
in real life.
Also joining as a friend-of this season is Erana Tyler, a
close friend and Monique and Ashley.
We even get a cameo from future housewife Stacey Rusch.
--------------------------------------------
The reimagined Season 8 brings back the exact same cast from
the reimagined Season 7: Karen Huger, Katie Rost, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan,
Ashley Darby, Monique Samuels, and Mia Thornton.
As a result, Mia is now the longest occupant of Gizelle’s
cursed chair, as this is now her third season, unlike Gizelle and Candiace who
were only on the show for two seasons, or Wendy who only had one season.
Jacqueline Blake and Erana Tyler also return as a friend-ofs,
and are joined by new friend-of Joi Carter
--------------------------------------------
For the reimagined Season 9 all main cast members return
from the reimagined Season 8.
However, to freshen things up, the iconic wildcard that is
Stacey Rusch has entered the main cast, giving RHOP a lucky number 7 cast for
the first time ever. Stacey elevates the show, and changes the dynamic of the
cast going forward. She is also the first newbie to not replace ANYONE. Think
about it: in this reimagined RHOP, Mia replaced Wendy. Wendy replaced Candiace,
Candiace replaced Gizelle, and Monique replaced Robyn. So, Stacey is quite
literally the most refreshing addition in a long time.
Jacqueline Blake, Erana Tyler, and Joi Carter are also back
as friend-ofs, and they are joined by Jassi Rideaux.
So, the reimagined Season 9 main cast is Karen Huger, Katie
Rost, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, Ashley Darby, Monique Samuels, Mia Thornton,
and Stacey Rusch.
Due to legal troubles, this ends up being Karen Huger’s
final season of RHOP. But in this reimagining, there is a rule for full-time
cast members: after you’ve left your full-time position the first time, you’re
allowed back on the show as a friend-of only. Until then, Karen ends up not
returning to the show, choosing instead to focus on her sobriety off-screen.
--------------------------------------------
The reimagined Season 10 introduces us to Angel Massie, who
isn’t really given a fair shake from viewers because she’s unintentionally sitting
on the chair once occupied by Karen Huger. And that’s not fair. Karen is an
icon, but her self-important ways and tendency to lie about what she was going
through personally, financially, and perhaps even emotionally, made it very
frustrating, and hard to truly connect with her, and it just made her look
stale by the end of her run. Thankfully, in this reimagining of RHOP, Season 10
is NOT Angel’s only season on the show, and she manages to show her fun crazy
side a lot more than she actually did in the real-life version of RHOP Season
10.
So, the reimagined Season 10 main cast is Katie Rost,
Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, Ashley Darby, Monique Samuels, Mia Thornton, Stacey
Rusch, and Angel Massie.
And Jacqueline Blake, Erana Tyler, Joi Carter, and Jassi
Rideaux are back as friend-ofs.
--------------------------------------------
The recently announced reimagined Season 11 will see
everyone back from the reimagined Season 10.
Joining the reimagined Season 11 main cast is Katie Rost,
Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, Ashley Darby, Monique Samuels, Mia Thornton, Stacey
Rusch, and Angel Massie.
And Jacqueline Blake, Erana Tyler, Joi Carter, and Jassi
Rideaux will return as friend-ofs.
---------------------------------------------------
If we were to stick to the panel/chair logic, Stacey is the
first (and to date, ONLY) Potomac housewife to be given an entirely new chair.
--------------------------------------------
And as of now, that is my reimagined cast timeline for The
Real Housewives of Potomac!
